Helping Alpharetta Residents Find Lawyers and Attorneys
How do you hold family law lawyers accoutable for overbilling?
I’m still in high school and trying to understand all this. step dad is trying to keep my mom from getting money from our old house which she bought and made morgage payments on that we moved out of. He refuses to move or sell it yet is still there after a year and a half while also trying to get spousal support (hes a lazy sleazebag out of work). The lawyers are stalling after realizing there is not much money involved and constantly cancelling deposition dates, and billing rediculous things. How can we get them to move things along? Can we force them to do anything? Please help I want to go to an Ivy for college and see family in Europe which is very expensive.

There is no way to hold them accountable. They are greedy scumbags that make money on people’s grief. The only way to deal with them is to get rid of their worthless a*sses. In your particular situation, there is nothing that your mom can’t do herself without the lawyer’s help. She really needs to get rid of them, set the court date, get the house back, and deny him the spousal support. The judge will be on her side, she has nothing to worry about.
